Welcome to the home of the Horsham Hawks, season 2015/16
This Saturday, 17 October, training at Forest School is a follows...
We have school years 8-11 from 2.00 until 3.30 - £5.00 for this session. Then years 7 and under have the court from 3.30 until 5.00 - £5.00 for this session. Then it's hoops away and home for our tea.
Make sure you bring plenty of water, correct sports wear, parental contact details and a willingness to learn.
After attending 3 community sessions we ask that you become a Hawks registered member. This covers court insurance, registration with England Basketball and a rather fetching t-shirt featuring Sussex's premier basketball club*. Membership is £20. See details in our membership section where you can download a membership form.
Forest School is having some work done over half term, so there is no basketball at Forest on Saturday 24th and Saturday 31st October.
The Hawks 2014-15 AGM is now downloadable for you to read at your leisure. Look in the nav to the left.
Hawk's end of season bash
Another year has flown by and has finished with the annual end of season event, full of basketball and awards. Thanks for all making it a great season, and here's looking forward to next season (after a well deserved summer break)
Family quiz night - POSTPONED
The quiz night planned for 23rd May has been postponed due to reasons beyond our control (It clashed with the Eurovision song contest). A new date will follow shortly.
When it does happen it will follow the following format:Maximum of 8 members per team, it should be ideal for all ages-ish (our u11s and up) with a mixture of quiz and hands on challenges.
Hawks will be running a family quiz night. Held at St Marks, think Crystal Maze without the expensive sets or bald host (erm).
Under 18s £3, over 18s £5. Please get your team names and team captains to email@example.com
Nibbles and drinks are to be supplied by combatants. Please pay on the door. If people are looking for a team we can create a super group. All profits are to be shared equally between the Hawks and a Guiding service trip to Vietnam, helping two centres for disabled children.
Will the kids beat the adults? Will the kids be prepared to have an adult in their team. One way to find out...
U11s - Champions
Hawks U11s concluded their season with an impressive cup final victory against Crawley Cagers. Slow to start the Hawks regained their composure running out 69 48 winners. More impressive with just 8 on the bench.
Else where in Europe
Hawk's own Josh Lea-Clayton made the trip to Gothenburg with the NTS Suns.
It's the first time in 36 years an English team has won a trophy at the
Gothenburg Basketball Festival. Beating an Icelandic team in the semi they came from 9-1
down to beat a Swedish team in the final.
If you look carefully you can just about make out the trophy.
There, but for two years, go I
Our U14s stepped into the void generated by the U12s opposition no show on Tuesday. Featuring a first for the Hawks, the report can be found in our reports section.
U12s versus the parents
Saturday 25th April saw the first U12s vs parents match, held with full pomp at Forest School. The result was irrelevant (ok, the U12s won) (comfortably), but fun was had by all. The parents WILL be back.
Hawks bingo extravaganza
Well didn't this go well. A HUGE crowd of eager dobbers (is that the phrase?) greeted the Hawks first bingo night. An impressive £320.20 was raised from all the fun and refreshments. A huge thank you to all involved especially Nicky Rose, Sarah Maclean, Marie Lea Clayton, with Janine Venturini, Hayley Rose, Rachel Maclean on refreshments and our host with the least Nick Probin.
Thank you also to our kind and generous sponsors:
• Ceramic Shack, Horsham
• Cocoa Loco
• Deep Blue Fish and Chips
• Flaming Grill at the Sussex Barn
• Studio 2 hair
• Sugar and Snow

Hawks strike out
Three lanes, 18 names, 1 strike and a spare. Bowling at it's finest. Who would have known that the management would be so anti dunking...
Just couldn't resist the basketball. For more photos see the Hawks pictures in the sub nav <<.
16 December 2014 - date to remember
night remembered not only for the Hawk's U16's second victory of the
2014/15 season, but for the first recorded dunk for a Hawk's player. See
if you can identify the premier dunker from the team pic below. Clue:
It's not the coach doing an impression of a teapot and is Harry Baker.
